I have also been wanting a thick wood cutting board. I want a big one for my kitchen counter, so it always sits there and I don't have to keep putting it away (I do a lot of chopping and cutting) this one from Etsy is nice. I also have considered making my own, Centsational Girl gives good instruction on how to make them.
