The Joy of Quiet

I love it when I forget my phone at home. Wwhen I realize that I have left it behind I have a minor panic attack (what if the sitter calls, what if some one really needs me.) Then I realize that every one who is important to me knows my work phone, all is well. The day goes so much better and more relaxed with out being connected at all time.  My mind gets so overwhelmed with all the available information, that I find it necessary to pay a lot of money and go to yoga classes, just to have an hour of peace. Don't get me wrong, I love yoga and how it makes my body/mind feel, but honestly I do believe that it became so popular in the U.S. after the Internet boom and the sudden surge of all the new technology that connects us to it.  I found this article in the New York Times so interesting.  The author mentions how some friends observe Internet sabbath, and that is no Internet from Friday night to Monday morning. I am seriously considering it.

  1. I try not to touch my computer on the weekends. Luckily the house renovations are enough to keep me away til monday! We'll see what happens when the house is "done"!
