Kuzeh Pottery at Shurka Bazaar

I am so excited to be a part of Shurka Bazaar next weekend. They have a great line up of vendors and I am so happy to get to know them all. Shurka Bazaar is an old Persian Bazaar right on Madison Ave, in celebration of the Persian new year, how exciting is that?

It is happening during the Persian day parade on April 14th from 1-5pm. between 25th and 26th street on Madison Ave, hope to see you there.

I am so excited, because for the first time ever, my pottery work will be sold in a lovely little store in Brooklyn! The name of the store is Cozbi and it is filled with lovely and impeccable hand made clothing by Cozbi Cabrera herself, jewelry, bags, dolls, and so much more made by other local artists. Her store is beautiful and I am so honored to have my pieces displayed there.

Take a look at Cozbi's site and you will see what I mean. Martha Stewart and Oprah have featured her one of a kind cloth dolls (Munecas) in their magazines and on TV.

Tea Time

Hi Friend,
I hope you are enjoying the holiday season as much as one could with all the work that needs to be done. I have been at the pottery studio a lot this last month, thanks to many supportive family members that take care of Baby B for me while I am there. I have been enjoying making gifts for my friends and family. This one is a teapot I made for my sister and brother in law. It goes along with 2 mugs bellow. what do you think?

Mugi Pottery Studio: Student Show!

If you happen to be in NYC, I would like to invite you to come to Mugi Studio tomorrow (Oct. 19th) from 6-9PM for the opening of the student show, which goes on for 3 weeks. Mugi Studio is a lovely and small pottery studio on the upper westside. There will be lots of beautiful handmade pottery by all the talented students and yours truly. Come and feast your eyes on the beauty of what a little bit of clay and 2 hands can do.

Pottery: Honey Pot

Today after a couple of weeks we have some sunshine. It is so nice to wake up to a bright day, it makes me feel so energized. Anyways, not much to report, just wanted to show you my honey pot that I made inspired by this. I am making so many pretty things which I will show you when they are finished, but if you want to see what I am inspired by you can take a look at my Pinterest board.

Pottery: Wabi Sabi

Wabi Sabi is a Japanese term for finding beauty in imperfection, and that is how I feel about these new bowls that I have made. They are not perfect but just looking at them makes me happy.  One of the great things about pottery is that you are never sure what your outcome is at the end. You throw the clay on the wheel and hope you can center it, sometimes it works and sometimes it is frustrating, then you hope for an easy smooth pull up and no air bubbles in the clay. You hope that it does not dry too much before you trim it the way you like, You hope that there is no cracks after you take it out of the kiln. You hope the glaze you have picked actually turns out like the sample, and so many other hopes that if I mention them all this post can get to be too long. So in order not to have anger and possibly a cry fest when you see your final result you have to not have any expectations, just enjoy what you have and appreciate the process. And that is a Wabi Sabi life, I mean bowl.

My New Hobby

Hi Friend,
It has been a while, I got off the blog wagon for a while to assess where I want to take it. I am still working on some ideas which I will share with you soon. I do want to tell you about my new hobby though, I took pottery in high school and a semester in collage.  I went to U of MN which has one of the best pottery/ceramic departments in the nation or so I am told.  I loved it, but left it behind and did not pursue it any more until recently I discovered a small pottery shop close to my home, that has classes late in the evening, I had been dying for an activity out of the house to do on my own, that has no stress and it is hands on. So I signed up, and I have to tell you it has been wonderful. Every Wednesday night I walk up the hill to my class, and on the weekends I go to the open studio.  I have made so many bowls, I am running out of room for them. I would love to make some of these soon.

Hi Friend,
I have been taking a pottery class for the past few weeks and have been loving it. I am hoping this weekend I get some free time to go and make some more pretty bowls during open studio time, and meet some new people. Everyone I have met so far in the class, has been rather awesome.  I hope you have an exciting weekend.
