Date with Baby B at the Park

Hi There,
Baby B and I had a date last Saturday, I call it a date when it is something out of the ordinary, look at her at the Cafe with her milk and cookie, "like, no big deal."

We made our way to the Central Park Zoo, which I recommend to all the tourists with little kids, it is the perfect size to spend a couple of hours in and not get overwhelmed or tired. Kids under 3 are free, and if you buy your tickets online a head of time, you can save money. $16 for Zoo and 4D theater. We  tried to go to the 4D Ice Age show, but the roaring in your face dinosaur was too much for Baby B and we had to leave 10 minutes into it.

We walked across the park to the west side and listened to a few musicians in the park, laid on the grass, chased huge bubbles, and by the time we got back on the bus to go home, she was fast asleep. over all a great day.

Cool Kid_03

At 2 years 8 months, Baby B looks like a little lady. She is so sweet and full of big words. She likes to be part of the conversations and she fake laughs in the middle of it, like she has just told a funny joke.

She imitates Mr. B and I, and we find it very funny. It is the highlight of our day to tell each other the new funny thing she has said that day.

This picture was from 1.5 year ago, see the 2 little teeth!!!
See her in this Cool Kid post or this one.

Here she is again at the same place. Our little lady, lovely as can be. Baby B we adore you.

KUZEH Pottery at Cozbi

Hi Friends,
I am so excited, because for the first time ever, my pottery work will be sold in a lovely little store in Brooklyn! The name of the store is Cozbi and it is filled with lovely and impeccable hand made clothing by Cozbi Cabrera herself, jewelry, bags, dolls, and so much more made by other local artists. Her store is beautiful and I am so honored to have my pieces displayed there.
Take a look at Cozbi's site and you will see what I mean. Martha Stewart and Oprah have featured her one of a kind cloth dolls (Munecas) in their magazines and on TV.

If you are in the Neighbourhood on Saturday March 16th. I will be at Cozbi's Store with my new pottery line called Kuzeh and would love to see you!

Cozbi:
351 5th Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11215.  718-246-7960.

Love Day

A couple of weeks ago I invited some friends over for a Knit  & Eat party. Everyone brought a healthy wholesome goodness to share, we had a feast. My friend Kristen Cavallo, who is not into knitting so much, brought Vday card making supplies with her and they were a big hit. let's say no one knitted that day, I will let you read all about it on her blog, and see more photos of our day.

Happy Valentine's Day everyone! Try to be a little nicer today to people around you :)

Instant Bad Ass

I love fingerless gloves. They make you look so cool and tough, as in, hey you don't mess with me, I have fingerless gloves and I can punch you out, :). Purl Bee shows you the step by step, if you make them please just look cool and don't punch anyone out.

And here is how you can make boot covers,

All I Want Today

It seems like everyone in North America is sick, including Mr. & Baby B. I am doing everything in my power not to get sick, ginger lemon tea and Oil of Oregano is a major part of my diet these days. Turnips are a very good source of vitamin C also, remember this turnip bread? What are you doing to stay healthy this flu season? did you get the flu shot?

Another Tea Pot

Here is another tea pot I made to give as a Christmas gift to my sister Aida. She is a musician among many other talents she has. I wrote about her here.
This pot has very simple whirling Dervish illustrations on the pot and on the lid. I was happy with the way it turned out and it was fitting for her since she plays the Daf which is and instrument used by the Kurdish Sufis.

Cold in Minnesota

We are in MN spending our holidays with family, and freezing. I have not taken my knit socks off my feet since we got here. It has been so nice to relax in the ever so calm and quite Midwest, and get a way from the craziness of NYC during the holidays. My sister in law and I walk a few blocks to the store and we did not see a sole on the street. We are staying with Mr. B's parents now, and between the dog and the 2 young aunts, Baby B has forgotten who I am. I am taking full advantage I have to say.  I think we might even squeeze in a date night tonight.

Tea Time

Hi Friend,
I hope you are enjoying the holiday season as much as one could with all the work that needs to be done. I have been at the pottery studio a lot this last month, thanks to many supportive family members that take care of Baby B for me while I am there. I have been enjoying making gifts for my friends and family. This one is a teapot I made for my sister and brother in law. It goes along with 2 mugs bellow. what do you think?

Here is another past project.

Boot Cover

These boot covers are super easy to make, they can add a bit of color to all the gray winter outfits and keep your legs warm. You can use any stitch style to do these as long as the bottom is Ribbed. You make a rectangle to fit around your calve, Rib for 2 inches then pick any style of stitch that you like and knit 4 inches.  Sew or crochet the short sides together, and tada!

This is the pattern I used, please keep in mind that this pattern only shows what your end result should look like. If you want to fallow this pattern, here is what you do, the first row do what the pattern says, the second row do the opposite of the pattern, if it says K (knit) you have to P (purl), 3rd row will be the same as the pattern and the 4th row will be the opposite, and that is how you carry on through the whole thing. Please let me know if this is helpful to you and if not I can try to improve.

Fall Is Almost Over

I love fall, I don't want it to be over, after last weeks snow storm here in Ny, all  the leaves are pretty much gone, and the weather has been so cold. Baby B keeps saying, "It's so cold, lets get out of here." Ditto little girl. Sigh...

Portraits of Power: Debbie Wasserman Schultz

This image of Licia Ranzolli (the Italian representative to the EU Parliament) went around the web like wildfire. A politician working while caring for her new born? Unheard of, she might as well dance around the room in her bra.

recently I read The Voice, and article in the Vogue about congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz, and to my delight I found that she also takes her children to work with her. What a great roll model, She is the newly appointed Democratic National Committee leader, and not only she has her own children at work, her staff also gets to bring in their little ones when they do not have child care. I think it is unreasonable that we have to act like men in order to achieve success in our careers.  The definition of "getting the job done" needs to be changed in our society, and yes woman can do it all. We need more fearless woman like Ms. Schultz and Kathrine Switzer, to step out of the norm, and not fallow rules in order to change the way woman are expected to be.
